Detachment News

The Houston-Holicky-Sitter Veterans Forum is returning this fall. This annual event brings together veterans from across the Richmond area to discuss issues important to our community, share resources, and strengthen the bonds between those who have served.

The forum will feature speakers on veterans' benefits, healthcare resources, and legislative updates. Light refreshments will be provided. All veterans, active duty service members, and their families are encouraged to attend.

Members of the James M. Slay Detachment gathered at Cavalier Range for our monthly shooting event. The event was a great success with strong participation from both longtime members and newer faces.

Our shooting events promote safe and responsible firearms use while providing an opportunity for camaraderie among members. All skill levels are welcome at our range events.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new website. The site will serve as a central hub for detachment news, event information, membership details, and resources for Marines and veterans in the Richmond area.

The James M. Slay Detachment #329 is honored to announce that we will be hosting the Department of Virginia Marine Corps League meeting in Spring 2027 at Lakewood Community Center.

More details on the agenda, registration, and accommodations will be announced as the event approaches. We look forward to welcoming fellow Marines and League members from across Virginia.
